MY ANCIENT GREECE OLYMPICS( I don't own it)



I chose Ancient Greece Olympics  for  my Project Based Learning because it is history (I like history as well as science). And the video? Because I really enjoyed my passion project and I wanted to do something similar.

running is the first ever sport in the ancient Greece as you find out by clinking running.I was really struggling in the first few stages because I was having trouble finding the videos on stupiflix but I managed to find I way By changing custom files to all files.

Colour Poem

Hi guys welcome back to my blog.  Rimu have been working on a colour poem, this is mine:

Red is the colour of an elegant sunset slowly disappearing into an eerie extent of black concealing the sun,
A beautiful but deadly flame dancing in the moonlight atop a hut of wood burning quietly into charcoal,

A pigment waiting patiently for 3 thousand years to be dug up with its microraptor host,

An elegant but relentless microraptor chasing a jaylong lizard quickly through the trees,

The blood from an unfortunate and small pterosaur gruesomely getting ripped apart inside a eoraptor's jaws,
A gleaming apple glistening in a tree waiting for the right moment to fall into the warm and comforting grass.   

Blue  is the colour of a cold wave enclosing the surfer.

I used my revising muscle to make this post.

fun day

At the start of fun day I started to do the colouring in competition,we were colouring the Olympic cauldron and watching the Olympics.We saw NZ win a silver in cycling, with Great Britain get a gold(ya go Great Britain). A while later the people at fun day played  army tag (on the brown playground), it was over in about 19 seconds because almost  every one was hiding in the same pleases. I was tagged by Van.The next and best game (in my opinion) was ball-rush I think I tagged about 27 people,I was really bad at tagging,I tried so hard to tag Brayden but failed about 12 times but it felt like 1000000000,I failed. We played a mini Olympics, I was in the country(team) pink fluffy unicorns. At the end of the day the people who made it to fun day ate the cheese pancakes (and chocolate mush(optional))that Mrs Carr made.

Making a robot called R1-T5

 We started to do robotics in Rimu hub, every one got into a group of two. I was in a group with Mya
Wallace.We started to make a robot (out of Lego). We made at least  3 mistakes on the first day,and managed to complete 16 steps (we are on step 17). Every one filled out a sheet and I think we did well.
We came up with the name  R1-T5 because our robot was RoboT 15. My favorite part was having a look at our mistakes(often it was because we had not used our noticing muscle enough to realise something). Another awesome thing is after a few steps trying to compere our robot to something else. On the second day I joined up with Finley and we started programing R1-T5. R1-T5 did lots of awesome things like reverse, stop on command and much much more.

In the holiday

I woke up wondering where I was then I remembered, I was at my Grandma and Grandpa's house, that was the start of the holiday at the farm (yes my Grandma and Grandpa live on a farm). I was the first up (as usual)so I played Rummyo, here are some of the rules:
you have to try and lose all your cards before the other person/people
you can not pick up and put down in the same turn.


Two days later my cousins Zakh, Ben, Mae and Jean arrived and we watched my favorite movie:Star Wars the Clone Wars we watched these episodes: Libitry on Ryloth and  Mystery of a Thousand Moons. The next day farmer Ein(one of my grandpas friends) brought Stanley(a horse) and we went on rides in this order:
Ben, Mae, Zakh, Cam, Jean then me. I really liked my holiday

My reading task for Simon Tofeild

This is my reading task for Simon Toifeld. My favorite part was my animating. This animation is really funny. It is  about a kid who gets an f-in every subject but dreams about being smart. bad grad

The hardest part of my task was the biography because I did not find much information at the start. 

 
                       INTRODUCTION
Simon Tofield is an animator who creates lots of animations called Simon's cat.
He has created lots of videos. his first video has had over 45 million views!
                        LIFE STORY
He had started animating when he was young inspired by cartoons.He has created flip books and at least 53 videos.   
                                KNOWN FOR
He has become famous for putting Simon’s cat videos on youtube. They are short and funny and determined.
                                  INSPIRATION
He prefers to get to get inspiration from his cats but really likes to hear about fans and their pets.sometimes he gets some of his ideas from wildlife
                                PERSONALITY
His likes are cats, wildlife and painting/drawing.his cat's personality makes Simon's cat's personality.
                                   CONCLUSION
His  four cats  are called Jess, Maisy, hugh and teddy.It takes around 12 and 25 drawings for a secand of one of his drawings. He creates almost all of his noises in his films. Simon’s cat has a goal and sometimes Simon’s cat succeeds at it

passion project

My passion protect is about science. These are my links.

physics This one is about density. The materials you need are salt (you will need a lot of salt), water, bowls/glasses and eggs. Watch the video to find out the steps and the science behind it.



baking soda vs vinegar This one is a great chemical reaction. The materials you need are baking soda, a bowl/glass and vinegar. Watch the video to find out  the steps. Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate  and when you add the vinegar it releases the gas called  carbon dioxide and that creates the bubbling affect.


I chose to do science as my passion project because at the start of the project I only knew a few  science experiments and I really  like science. I did intend to do more but I did not like them that much. My favorite is the baking soda experiment.This is my reflection.

At the start of the project it was a talk and show the experiments.

How far did you get with your passion project? What would have helped you to get further?
It was about 97% finished because I forgot to do the science on an experiment so it was not finished.  

What was the most challenging part of your passion project?
Choosing what experiments to do because there are thousands of experiments.  

What was surprising about your passion project?
Definitely the results like the size of the vinegar experiment  it was smaller than I expected

Did you follow your plan well? Why or why not?
No only the part about the science. I displayed it on two videos instead of a talk.I followed about 4% of the plan    

Which learning muscles did you use the most while you were working on your passion project? How did you use each one? Noticing: I noticed my errors.


Which learning muscles did you find difficult to stretch during passion project time?
Collaboration muscle because I was the only person doing science.

You choose the topic and you choose the writing purpose. This needs to be your best independent writing for assessment. Below is the success criteria for quality writing. Use this criteria and go for it!

Success Criteria (Sentence formation has been our main focus)
Content & Ideas
Include a range of ideas with clear details.
Sentence Formation
  • Include simple, compound and complex sentences
  • Start most of my sentences with different words
Vocabulary
Choose words and language features to meet my purpose.
Structure
Clear beginning, middle and end with paragraphs.


Spelling
My best spelling with good attempts at words I don’t know.
Punctuation
Use all basic punctuation (capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks) correctly and attempt some complex punctuation.

Materials

Camera
Binoculars
Something a yeti might want to eat(optional)
Good place to hide (example tent or hut/tree house)
                                                     Strategy
1 put the food somewhere near you think a yeti is hiding(if you have some)(example bush) .
2 hide in the place to hide in and wait*.
3 if you find a yeti try and take a photo with flash off.   

*remember you can look through the binoculars at any time you like.
